This farmstead consists of four historic buildings including a house [225095], dairy barn [225097], corn crib [225098], and animal barn [225099]. The animal barn was constructed c.1930. It is rectangular in plan with corrugated metal walls and an asphalt-shingled gable roof. Three sliding barn doors are located along the south elevation, leading to a concrete barnyard. The farmhouse was not individually evaluated as it is a vernacular building with no degree of historic integrity remaining due to the addition of vinyl siding (the addition of which almost certainly covers original window openings), new windows, and a large rear addition with sliding glass doors. As a property type, the farmstead contains a relatively intact collection of four historic buildings (based on historic 1937 aerial photographs, the only outbuilding that is no longer extant is a small building that was located where the existing garage [225096] now stands; the existing garage was not surveyed as it appears to be of recent construction). The presence of a dairy barn with silos and a corn crib is indicative of the area's history of dairying. However, because the farmhouse has lost its historic integrity due to heavy alterations, the overall integrity of this small farmstead is significantly diminished. None of the three remaining outbuildings is individually remarkable within the context of such farmsteads in the surrounding area; in addition, the integrity of the central dairy barn is diminished due to the addition of corrugated metal siding throughout. |
