This newly inventoried, former one-room schoolhouse is located at the Winneconne Historical Society Museum Complex
at the southwest corner of West Main Street and North 6th Street. The schoolhouse is one of five buildings
comprising the complex. Erected in 1889, the building faces south and is oriented perpendicular to West Main Street. It
rises from a newer concrete foundation, is finished with board-and-batten siding, and has a front-gabled roof sheathed
with standing seam metal. The fenestration includes six-over-six windows. The interior retains a high degree of integrity.
The entry vestibule accesses the single classroom, with its original wood floor and walls. A wood burning stove is located
in the center of the classroom.

This schoolhouse was built in 1889 by the St. Peter's Congregation in the Town of Winchester (Winnebago County). It is
unclear when the school closed. Alfred Zellmer gave the school to the Winneconne Historical Society in 1980. It came
with the original desks among other furnishings, and features the slate blackboards, wood stove and organ.

This building is an excellent and intact example of a one-room schoolhouse. Although it has been relocated, it is significant for its architecture.
