A 'site file' titled Lake Mills Downtown Commercial Historic District exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation-Public History. This two-story commercial vernacular building was first constructed by Frank Foote ca.1876 and it was then veneered in brick and expanded by him in 1889. The front (east) facade features a recessed center entry flanked by wood pilasters, large wood-frame display windows with transoms, and an ornamented beam with decorative end brackets. A door at the north side of the facade accesses the second floor. Second-story windows are evenly spaced across the facade and feature stone sills and segmental arch brick window hoods. The windows are replacement one-over-one vinyl sash. The cornice consists of decorative brick corbelling. |
