Additional Comments Charles Hayward Godfrey was the fourth son of E.R. Godfrey, founder of E.R. Godfrey & Sons Company (a commercial merchants organization) which later became the Godfrey Company. The family operated and supplied Sentry Foods before the it was sold to Flemming Companies in the 1980s.

This house was built on Lot 2 of 11 created from E.R. Godfrey's original 3.17 acre parcel. Charles and his family occupied the house until 1930. Charles passed away in Elm Grove in 1940.

Wauwatosa's first library was located next to the house, but was torn down in 1958.
