Additional Comments
Although the front portion of this building was originally built in 1891 as the State Bank of Eagle River (later reorganized as the First National Bank), little if any of the original materials remain. Two concrete block additions were made to the rear of the building—one in 1922, the other in 1923--by August H. La Renzie, following his purchase of the building for his clothing business, The Toggery Shop. The bank vault was removed in 1923. Under the ownership of Frank Mulrooney, the front of the building was expanded west and entirely remodeled in 1954. Finally, in 1973, the building was again remodeled to reflect the Northwoods Rustic theme.
