This building housed Bassett & Davies General Store, one of the largest mercantiles in this part of the state.

"Two of Columbus' earliest settlers, Daniel Bassett and Uriah Davies, built this very long building to house their general store. Requiring more display space, they added 114/118 North Ludington." Columbus Historic Architecture Tours, undated.
