This house was the home of William Hilgen and his first wife, Helene. Helene died one year after the house was built. At that time the house was located on Columbia Road on the site of Hilgen's second house N61 W6058 Columbia Road (which see for more biographical information on Hilgen). In 1907 the house was moved to this site in order to make room for the new Hilgen residence. From about that time until sometime after 1923 the house was owned by Arthur and Paula Roebken. Arthur Roebken called himself a manufacturer in 1923. From 1901 to 1906 he was a partner with George Wittenberg in the furniture and undertaking business. Arthur was one of the top managers at the woolen mill. |
