Additional Comments Four hip roof dormers on roof, each with three 6-light windows. Modern 1-story flat roof addition on west facade. The St. Joseph parish was established in 1914 by the Green Bay diocese to accommodate growth on the western side of the city, which only had one other catholic church at the time. A non-extant church was constructed that year and a non-extant grade school was added in 1917. However, the parish grew, and the buildings deteriorated encouraging the construction of a new church, school, convent, and rectory, which was overseen by Franciscan Sisters. St. Joseph’s was the first catholic congregation in Green Bay that was not expressly intended for a single ethnic group as previous churches had been. A large addition to the rectory was completed in 1958.
