Designed by Guido Beck of Dubuque, Iowa, in a rather severe symmetrical Germanic interpretation of the Romanesque Revival style, the brick Holy Trinity Church features a central entrance tower and domed wooden belfry supported by stepped buttresses projecting from the facade. Long round arched stained glass windows with flat white stone window heads, a round arched entrance and decorative corbeling along the recessed panels of the side elevations are used as signatures of the Romanesque Revival style. The side vestibules were added to the original structure. Constructed in 1892-1894 by German Catholics originally organized as the St. Nicholas parish in 1887, Holy Trinity is the only 19th century Catholic Church built as the original church structure of a continuing congregation remaining on the south side of La Crosse. This is a brick-veneered building. Additions to church include: 1954: Sacristy enlarged and rear entrance constructed 1979: Interior redecorated c.1895: brick veneered Church was constructed by contractors Eberhart and Lawrence of Dubuque, IA and altars by Egid Hackner Altar Company.
