"The house displays several different styles. Elements of the Greek Revival style are present in the frieze band at the roofline which is supported by tall corner pilasters. The frieze returns at the base of the gables. The large front porch, with its octagonal extension, is Queen Anne in its massing. However, the formal quality of its columns and the modillion blocks at the eaves speak to growing interest in the Classical Revival style at the turn of the century. The simplified brackets engaged at the tops of the columns are unique." Columbus Historic Architecture Tours, undated.
DR. POSER HAD A PRIVATE MEDICAL PRACTICE. This house began as a smaller Gabeled Ell form Greek Revival style house built by Chadbourn in 1857. In 1860 he sold it to H. T. Long, who remodeled it by raising the ell to a full two-stories in 1872, just before selling it to Capt. Calvin C. Baker. In 1899, Baker's estate sold the house to Dr. E. M. Poser, who enlarged the veranda, added the gazebo to it, and enlarged the house to the rear, giving the house a Queen Anne style update.
In 1997 the 3rd generation of the Posers living there added an extension and porch area on the rear of the North side.
