Additional Comments A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. Paired square towers with bell shape roofs flank the gable end/facade; half-timber styled articulation in gable end and on tower; shed roof addition at rear; altered entrance. Architectural character has been altered by the addition of stucco to the exterior. This brick veneer building housed the German Concordia Singing Society and the Concordia Aid Society. This building is a major example of German immigration in La Crosse. Concordia Hall played an important role in the social life of La Crosse's German-American Community. It was a center of social activity. It still plays a role in the social life of the city by hosting musical and dance activities. 1996- "Erected in 1891, the Concordia Ballroom stands as a testament to the social activity of the City of La Crosse. The structure has undergone some alterations over the last 1 OS years, including construction of a modern, flat roof entrance of stone veneer to the front and a shed roof rear addition. Nevertheless, the structure largely retains its original gabled form and flanking towers with flared, pyramidal roofs, while decorative half-timbering covers the stuccoed walls." - "La Crosse North/South Transportation Corridor", WisDOT ID #5991-04-00, Prepared by Heritage Research, Ltd. (1996). 2016 UPDATE - BUILDING LOOKS SUBSTANTIALLY LIKE IT DID WHEN LAST SURVEYED IN 1996. 2024: Building is largely unchanged since the last survey. The building was built by the Frohsinn Society and designed by Schick and Stolze. 2025; unchanged since last survey date.
