Embankment dam with steel stoplog gates and concrete spillways. Earthen embankments rebuilt and repairs made in 1964, 1990, 2004-05.

FERGE AND KEEPER CO. WERE THE BUILDERS.

Excellent example of early high rise office building with upper floors in nearly original condition.

The Sentinel began in Milwaukee in 1837 with John O'Rourke as publisher. Rufus King became editor in 1845 and remained in that position until 1861.

The Sentinel was not the first Milwakee paper, but it is the longest in continuous operation.

This was the office of the Sentinel from 1892-1930.
