Photo code #2: 74FD-33/14. This two story Italianate house has a square form with a slightly lower two story ell at the rear of the house. The low pitched hip roof has overhanging eaves decorated with paired brackets, modillions, and wooden frieze. Windows are tall and narrow. They are decorated with label moldings and keystones on the second story, and with round arches and keystones on the first story. The main entrance is decorated with a transom and sidelights and a simple pediment. The square form, low pitched hip roof with brackets, arched windows and overall form and massing are fine and outstanding elements of the style as seen on this house. This house was the home of Jacob and Charlotte Huber betwen 1884 and 1938. Jacob Huber was a prominent druggist in Fond du Lac. |
