| Additional Comments | Although substantially modified, this is an example of a locally uncommon style. ARCHITECTURAL STATEMENT: This two story residential structure shows the characteristics of the late Italianate style although substantial modifications have either clad or removed much of the original detailing, The relatively late date of construction may account for the absence of rnate detailing associated with earlier editions of this style. Asbestos siding on the mass of the house and wood shingles on the porch are two obvious modifications. The scale of the building, its residential character and the remaining characteristics of its style-hip roof, cornice and porch post brackets--do contribute, however, to the architectural significance of the district. |
