Brick, Victorian commercial building. The McCullough Brothers Building, built in 1894, is a two-story commercial vernacular building. It is clad in cream brick with cut stone accents and rests on a dressed ashlar stone foundation. Located at the southeast corner of WIS 67 and County Trunk Highway V, the property has an irregular six-sided form with entrances on the north, west, and northwest elevation. The heavy brick cornice features decorative corbels and a peaked parapet on the canted northwest (front) facade has a date stone beneath a brick segmental arch. Upper-story window openings have segmental arch brick headers with stone accents and sills and contain 12-over-12, wood, double-hung sash. The storefront facades on the lower story have been in-filled with brick and board-and-batten siding with paired vinyl casement windows and modern metal doors. Although the upper story retains architectural details, the storefront facades on the lower story have all been altered with downsized openings, replacement siding, and replacement windows, and the building no longer conveys its historic function and is not eligible under Criterion A: History. The loss of character-defining features has resulted in diminished integrity. |
