Chartered in 1855, the lodge was constructed during the most affluent years of its members, which included D.K. Brown, C.B. Clark, A.C. Gilbert and E.J. Lachmann.

This property was last surveyed in 1981 using the City Engineer's Base Map with the code 1/37.

The subject building was erected between 1925 and 1926 as the home of the Menasha Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons which was chartered in June 1855. Although organized in Menasha, the organization moved to Neenah in November of 1855. IN 1857, the group petitioned to change the name to Union Lodge No.61; however, it was first changed to Tyrean Lodge and then to Kane Lodge. In 1923, the name was formally changed to the Elisha Kent Kane Lodge No.61. Aside from being a Mason, Elisha Kent Kane had a number of occupations including astronomer, shemist, surgioon and explorer. The subject structure was dedicated in 1926 and continues to serve as the local Masonic lodge.
