KARRELS BUILDING CO. WAS THE BUILDER. MAP CODE IS 0710-072-1813-6. "Another example of a Craftsman bungalow with Tudor-Revival influences, this house has narrow clapboards, and stucco and half-timbering in the gable ends. The jerkinhead roof, front dormer, window details, and current paint scheme make this house a gem. The second floor was let out as a separate apartment from the time of construction, and the use of the upstairs space is ingenious. There are three/four bedrooms in this house, two are upstairs along with a kitchenette, sun or dining room, and a small living room. On the main level, you can see the curved elements where the wall joins the ceiling as Ruth Lauck, daughter of the master builder, recalled. Take note of the original light fixtures, cabinetry and woodwork throughout the house. The original owner, Anton Kubicek (born c. 1896) emigrated to Wisconsin in 1908 from Bohemia wan was naturalized as an American citizen in 1918. In 1920 Kubicek was a mechanic with the Burgess Laboratory. In 1939, he worked as a diemaker, and in 1943, as toolmaker. He and Mary had two daughters, Cordelia and Jeannette, and two sons, Joseph W. and Robert. All but Joseph, who was in the US Army, worked for Red Dot Foods, a food processing company (1400 block, W.
