The building contributes to the Main Street Historic District for its interesting Queen Anne influenced architecture. Since the renovation, the integrity of the building has greatly increased. The renovated part of the building was the home of the historically important Atkinson's Department Store, one of the city's important twentieth century commercial businesses. It contributes historically to the district for this reason.
