| Additional Comments | A GREEK REVIVAL STYLED FRAME TWO-STORY WITH A SLOPING ROOF THAT HAS CORNICE RETURNS IN THE FRONT FACING GABLE. BRACKETED EAVES, PROJECTING CORNICES OVER THE WINDOWS AND EXTERIOR SHUTTERS FURTHER DECORATE THIS SUBSTANTIAL HOUSE. THE DOUBLE-DOORED ENTRANCE TRIMMED WITH WOODEN RECESSED PANELS PROJECTS ONTO THE WRAP-AROUND PORCH THAT IS SUPPORTED BY BRACKETED POSTS AND THAT HAS A PEDIMENTED ENTRANCE PORTICO. THE ENTRANCE HAS BEEN PLACED TO THE NORTH SIDE OF THE STREET FACING GABLE END OF THE HOUSE. THIS HOUSE IS ARCHITECTURALLY SIGNIFICANT BECAUSE IT IS THE BEST REMAINING EXAMPLE OF THE VERNACULAR GREEK REVIVAL (WITH ITALIANATE INFLUENCE) STYLE OF RESIDENTIAL ARCHITECTURE IN DARLINGTON. |
