Sanborn-Perris maps show that this brick two-story building was built prior to 1938, but historic photos show that it was in place in 1913 and it may have been built at the same time as the Stevlingson & Call building next door, which was built in 1913 and is an attributed work of Parkinson & Dockendorff of La Crosse. 1995- "Sanborn maps show that this small two-story rectilinear plan Twentieth Century Commercial style building was bullt between 1911 and l938, but historic photos show that it was in place by 1913, so it may have been built in conjunction with the Stevlingson & Call building next door, which is known to have been built in 1913. The building is polygonal in plan (actually, it is almost triangular), it measures 35-feet-deep x 25-feet-wide, has a concrete foundation and brick exterior walls, and its main facade faces east onto Main Street. Historic photos show that the original first story ot this facade consisted of a nearly full-width storefront that contained a large flat-arched display window opening to the left that had a sinqle large window, above which was a tall three-light transom. To the right of this window was a second flat-arched opening that contained the recessed first story's main entrance door and to the right ot that was a less wide flat-arched entrance door opening for the entrance to the second story. The same photos show that the second story ot this facade originally contained three flat-arched window openings containing one-over-one-llght flat-arched w1ndows and the facade was surmounted by a simple corbelled brick cornice. Today, all ot the original windows and doors have been replaced by inappropriate modern units, but all the openings themselves are still intact and the brick-clad facade itselt is otherwise completely intact. Sanborn maps show only that this building contained an undefined store in 1938.
