Additional Comments This two-story Italianate styled house features a cross-shaped plan configuration, a brick foundation, a cream brick exterior, a brick trim, and shingled, multi-gabled roof. Generally described as a cross vernacular house form, this cream brick structure exhibits gabed two story wings radiating outward on all four sides. Bracketed cut-away bays on the east gable, a two-sided balustraded porch (probably added) covering the enclosed entrance in the east front angle and a similar porch in the east rear angle add further irregularity to this well-preserved house. Italianate raised brick arched window heads, stained glass windows and tall chimneys are additional features of this Victorian house. The residence is in excellent condition. Architectural/Engineering Significance: Important as a well-preserved representative of the cross vernacular house influenced by the Italianate style popular at the time of its construction, this house - featuring replacement porches - does not exhibit as much architectural integrity as the houses at 1012 Western Ave. (44-5) and 921 E. Main (51-34). Historical Background: William Stark was an individual who lived in this dwelling from 1919 to 1934. (See Bib. Ref. A, B). Historical Significance: Initial research indicates that none of the occupants of this house are historically significant.
