A 'site file' titled "Cudahy Depot" exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation. VERTICAL TONGUE AND GROOVE WAINSCOTING. The Cudahy Depot was constructed in 1892 on land made available by the family of meat packer Patrick Cudahy. This is a one-and-one-half story, frame building. The lower part of its exterior walls is sheathed with vertically placed boards crowned with molding, above which is wooden clapboard. Windows throughout are double hung sashes, the lower light of which is one pane. The upper light contains a centered pane of glass, surrounded by approximately sixteen smaller lights. The baggage room, with wide wooden doors, is located at the north end of the building. The depot is covered with a hipped roof extending to the south to shelter the passenger platform. Two gabled dormers are situated above the first floor of the station. Designated a county landmark in 1983. Previously surveyed in 1990. |
