Belle Case La Follette and Irvine Lenroot
Irvine Lenroot, a leader in the La Follette-Progressive wing of the Republican Party in Wisconsin, with Belle Case La Follette and Mary La Follette at Maple Bluff Farm. This snapshot was taken in 1906, the year in which Robert M. La Follette, Sr. persuaded Lenroot to run for governor. Although unsuccessful in his candidacy, Lenroot was elected to the Congress in 1908 and later to the U.S. Senate. He turned down the Republican vice-presidential nomination in 1920. |
