2nd Wisconsin Infantry Band
The brass band of the 2nd Wisconsin Infantry. In the past, the leader in the picture was identified as Hazard W. Titus, but it is likely that this photograph was taken in 1861, before Titus became band leader in 1862. This regimental band saw its membership decrease such that by the beginning of 1862, there were fewer than the 16 men shown here in the band. It is more likely the leader shown here is band's first leader, Homer S. Chandler, who resigned in October, 1861. |
