The State Register newspaper office. This paper was published by Andrew Jackson Turner, father of Frederick Jackson Turner noted historian. Andrew Jackson Turner (Spetember 24, 1832- June 10, 1905) moved to Portage in 1855. He was co-editor of the Portage City Record (1857-1861), and when that paper merged with the Portage Wisconsin State Register, he served as co-editor of the newly established paper until 1878. |
