Original caption reads in part: "During the winter months pulpwood is piled on the banks of the Spanish River and is pushed or thrown into the water when the river is at its normal level. This procedure prevents the wood from becoming waterlogged and decreases the possibility of log jams. Before the TracTracTor was used in this work, 50 men were required to get the logs into the water. Now four men do the same amount of work. Two of these men stand in the water to keep the logs moving, one is on the wood pile to keep the logs rolling down, and the fourth operates the TD-35. Further information on this operations was once obtainable from L.C. George. Photograph was taken by N.C. Donnelly, engineering department, Hamilton Works." |
