In 1868, Dandy was referred to in the New York Times (August 10) as the Head Chief of the Winnebago, indicating that Dacorie had recently died. The reason for the article was that Dandy's daughter had been struck by a locomotive and killed, at Cedar Rapids, Iowa, leaving two young children orphaned. |
