Madison Soap Box Derby Champion
Eldon Raemisch, age 14, in his championship car, No. 32. The Madison Soap Box Derby was held on Wilson Street in 1936. Eldon's car was the heaviest in the race, 135 pounds, and the fact that much of the weight was in the rear helped his speed. He went on to compete at Derby Downs in Akron, Ohio; the first boy from Madison to do so. |
