You'll Catch It When Mother Wakes Up!

You'll Catch It When Mother Wakes Up! | Print | Wisconsin Historical Society
A mother, Miss Columbia, sleeps in a four poster bed. She is wearing a liberty cap. The canopy on the bed is made of Union flags. A girl, representing the seceding states, is tearing the bed curtain, (flag) at the foot of the bed, in half. Another girl, representing the Union, in a red and white striped skirt, is saying "You'll catch it when mother wakes up!" The image is implying that the Confederacy will be in big trouble when the Union wakes up to the threat of secession and deals with it. Blue and red ink on beige envelope, image in upper left corner.
Image printed on envelope, mounted on various colored pages and collected in an album.
