National Democratic Ticket Ballot
National Democratic Ticket for the United States Presidential Election, Stephen A. Douglas and for Vice President, Herschel V. Johnson. Voters that desired to select a straight party ticket would simply sign the back of the ballot and the election officials would place it on the appropriate spindle. Many of the ballots from this time period display a hole in the middle. The signature on the back of this ballot is indecipherable. The election that year had 4 candidates, Stephen A. Douglas for the National Democratic Party, John C. Breckinridge for the Southern Democratic Party, John Bell for the new Constitutional Union Party and Abraham Lincoln for the Republican Party. |
