Main, Angie Kumlien [Mary Angela (Kumlien) Main] 1883 - 1952"
naturalist, author, b. near Busseyville, Jefferson County. She was the granddaughter of Thure Kumlien (q.v.). From her grandfather, she inherited a love of nature, especially of flowers and birds. She graduated from Whitewater State Normal School (1908), taught school in Lake Mills and Fort Atkinson, and on Mar. 31, 1908, married Herbert A. Main. She spent the remainder of her life on a farm near Fort Atkinson. She was the author of Bird Companions (1925), a biography of her grandfather, and numerous articles on nature, birds, and historical subjects for Wisconsin newspapers and periodicals. She was curator (1924-1951) and vice-president (1949-1951) of the State Historical Society of Wisconsin. Wis. Mag. Hist., 36; Madison Wis. State Journal, Dec. 13, 1925; Ft. Atkinson Jefferson Co.
