Marshall [origin of place name]
In 1845, the land passed into the hands of John Douglas, who afterward transferred it to A.M. Hanchett who gave it the name of Hanchettville. In 1859, another plot was made by Mr. Hanchett, and the village was given the name of Howard City. The property passed soon after into the hands of Porter and Marshall and the name was changed to Marshall.
