Mauthe, William 1873 - 1942
businessman, manufacturer, conservationist, b. Appleton. He established the Mauthe Furniture Store at Fond du Lac in 1900, and in 1905 became president and general manager of the Northern Casket Co. He was president of the Fond du Lac Church Furniture Co. (1911-1934), and also served in executive capacities with several other Fond du Lac and Oshkosh corporations. A Republican, he was twice a delegate to the party's national conventions (1912, 1916), and was a member of the state board of conciliation (1920-1927), and the state department of commerce (1937-1942).
