businessman, manufacturer, banker, b. West Bend. He attended Notre Dame Univ., and on the death of his father in 1871, Mayer took over operation of the family brewing business. In 1911 he sold this interest and established the West Bend Malting Co., in the same year he organized the West Bend Aluminum Co., which manufactured cooking utensils. He was president of both firms (1911-1914), and in 1920 became president of the First State Bank of West Bend, a position that he held until his death. A Republican, he was state senator (1895-1898).
