For S.S. Merrill, long-time manager of the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway (an earlier name for what became the Milwaukee Road). At one time it was called Jenny, because the smaller rapids near there were called the Jenny Bull Falls to distinguish them from the Big Bull rapids at Wausau - (so named because from down the river they sound like the lowing of a bull).
