lumberman, b. Chenango County, N.Y. He moved with his parents to Illinois about 1843. In 1857 he moved to Wisconsin, settling in Eau Claire where he worked as a bank manager. He entered the lumber business in 1861, and in 1867 helped organize the firm of Moon and Porter. In 1873 this company was merged with the lumber interests of S. T. McKnight to form the Northwestern Lumber Co., eventually one of the largest lumber companies in Eau Claire. Moon was president and general manager of this firm from 1880 until his death, and was also a director of the Barronet Lumber Co., vice-president of the Shell Lake Lumber Co., and a stockholder of the Montreal Lumber Co.
