Moore, Annie Aubertine [Woodward] 1841 - 1929 | Wisconsin Historical Society

musician, author, b. Montgomery County, Pa. She studied in private schools and under tutors in the East. Manifesting an early interest in music and Scandinavian literature, she lectured widely in the eastern states. In 1879 she moved to Madison where she lived with the family of Prof. Rasmus B. Anderson (q.v.) and continued her studies. In 1887 she married Samuel H. Moore. A friend and correspondent of many of the musical greats of the day, she was music critic for the Wisconsin State Journal (1900-1911) and was on the faculty of the Madison Musical College (1909-1912). Using the pen name, "Auber Forestier," she wrote numerous articles and short stories, and translated several Scandinavian novels and song collections. She also collaborated with Rasmus B. Anderson and did many of the translations issued under his name. She was the author of such books as For My Musical Friend (1900) and For Every Music Lover (1902). Dict. Amer. Biog.; Madison Wis.
