Morehouse, Frederic Cook 1868 - 1932 | Wisconsin Historical Society

Episcopal lay leader, editor, author, publisher, b. Milwaukee. He was educated in private schools and under tutors. In 1885 he helped his father organize the Young Churchman Co. in Milwaukee, and in 1918 reorganized the publishing firm as the Morehouse Publishing Co. Morehouse was editor of the Church Eclectic (1896-1900), and from 1899 until a few months before his death edited The Living Church, an important weekly Episcopal Church magazine published by the Morehouse Publishing Co. In the Episcopal Church, he was a leader of the Anglo-Catholic or high-church movement and was a representative at the World Conference on Faith and Order held at Lausanne, Switzerland, in 1927. He was the author of Some American Churchmen (1892), and Evolution of Parties in the Anglican Communion (1905).
