Evangelical clergyman, missionary, b. Wurttemberg, Germany. He migrated to the U.S. in 1824, and lived for several years in Pennsylvania and Ohio. He entered the ministry of the Evangelical Church in 1843, was ordained deacon in 1845, and elder in 1847. In 1844 Mueller came to Wisconsin, serving for several years as missionary to the Winnebago Indians and to the incoming German immigrants. He founded a church in Madison in 1844, and also held pastorates in Milwaukee, Menomonee Falls, and in Illinois and Iowa. He retired from the ministry in 1871, and lived in Madison until his death.
