physician, b. Posen, Prussia. He received his medical degree in Berlin (1835), and in 1849 migrated to the U.S. and to Wisconsin. He practiced at Mequon (1849-1853), at Milwaukee (1853- 1859), and again at Mequon (1859-1862). During the Civil War, he served as first assistant surgeon, and later as acting surgeon with the 20th Wisconsin Volunteers (1862-1863). Returning to Wisconsin after the war, he practiced at Fond du Lac from 1863 until his retirement in 1872. After retiring, he spent the remainder of his life in Milwaukee. L. F. Frank, Med.
