newspaperman, b. Pontiac, Mich. He graduated from the Univ. of Michigan (B.A., 1878), and began his newspaper career in Chicago, Ill. In 1883 he moved to Milwaukee where he joined the staff of the Milwaukee Sentinel, and in 1896 became its editor, serving in this capacity from 1896 to 1901. Leaving the Sentinel in 1901, he founded the Milwaukee Free Press, and threw his editorial support behind the campaign of Robert M. La Follette, Sr., and the progressive faction of the Republican party. Although he later withdrew his support of La Follette, Myrick continued to edit the Free Press until his death, after 1906 in partnership with J. J. Harvey.
