banker, b. New Haven, Vt. He graduated from Castleton Seminary in Vermont, and first visited Wisconsin in 1843, living for three years in Milwaukee. He spent the years from 1846 to 1853 in Vermont, but in 1853 settled permanently in Milwaukee. In 1853 he was one of the founders of the Farmers' and Millers' Bank, but in 1854 sold his interest and organized the Bank of Milwaukee (National Exchange Bank after 1865). He was president of this bank (1855-1892). In 1859, Nash and others were instrumental in moving the Mutual Life Insurance Co. of the State of Wisconsin from Janesville to Milwaukee, and reorganizing it as the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co.
