Nash, William Francis 1847 - 1916 | Wisconsin Historical Society
newspaperman, politician, b. Millville, Orleans County, N.Y. He moved with his parents to Wisconsin in 1851, settling near Janesville. During the Civil War, he served as a private in Co. A, 13th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry (1864-1865), and later attended Lawrence College in Appleton. In 1875 he moved to Two Rivers where he purchased the Manitowoc County Chronicle. He was editor-in-chief and publisher of this paper (styled Two Rivers Chronicle after 1899) until his death, but in 1902 took his son into the publishing firm, and after 1908 delegated most of the active editing to his son. A Democrat, Nash was mayor of Two Rivers, state assemblyman (1878), and state senator (1889-1894). L. Falge, ed., Hist. of Manitowoc Co. (2 vols., Chicago [1912]); Wis.
