Noyes, George Henry 1849 - 1916
lawyer, judge, b. McLean, N.Y. He moved with his parents to Wisconsin in 1855, settling in Delafield. He graduated from the Univ. of Wisconsin (B.A., 1873; LL.B., 1874). From 1873 to 1874 he was assistant state librarian, and in 1874 set up a law practice in Milwaukee, which he continued until his death. He was superior court judge for Milwaukee County (1888-1890), and from 1906 until his death was general counsel for the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. Noyes served as a member (1890-1902) and president (1899-1901) of the board of regents of the Univ. of Wisconsin, and was president of the Wisconsin State Bar Association (1904-1905).
