U. 1964, Sports Illustrated Silver Anniversary All American Football Award 1966, and Wisconsin Motel Assn. Award of Merit 1968. Chairman Columbia County Republican Party 1957-60; by 1963 legislation, was executive chairman Wisconsin World's Fair Participation Corp.; member Northern Great Lakes Area Governors' Council (past pres.); director, Wisconsin Trade Mission to Europe, 1964.
