Park, Byron Beach 1858 - 1939
lawyer, politician, judge, b. Stevens Point. He graduated from the Univ. of Wisconsin (LL.B., 1881), and from 1885 to 1911 practiced law in Stevens Point. A Democrat, he held local offices in Stevens Point, served one term as mayor, and was district attorney of Portage County. In 1911 he was appointed circuit judge of the 7th judicial circuit to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Charles M. Webb, was subsequently elected to the unexpired term, and was four times re-elected to a regular term. He was not a candidate for re-election in 1938, and served on the circuit court bench from 1911 to Jan., 1939. Park also served briefly as a member of the state board of normal school regents, and in this capacity was instrumental in establishing Stevens Point State Normal School. Encyclopedia of Amer.
