manufacturer, businessman, b. Shullsburg. While studying telegraphy in Janesville, he developed an interest in the manufacture of fountain pens. In 1891, with William F. Palmer (q.v.), he organized the Parker Pen Co. at Janesville, the company prospered and, through such innovations as duo-fold pens and pencils, acquired a world-wide reputation. Parker was president of the company from 1891 until his retirement in 1933, and also served in executive capacities with several Janesville business and banking establishments.
