Peabody, Arthur 1858 - 1942 | Wisconsin Historical Society

architect, b. Eau Claire. He graduated from the Univ. of Illinois (B.S., 1882), and worked for several years as an architect in Chicago, and Wichita, Kans. In 1905 he returned to Wisconsin to become architect for the Univ. of Wisconsin in Madison (1905-1915). In 1915 he was appointed state architect for Wisconsin and served in this capacity until his retirement in 1937. Peabody designed over 70 university and state buildings, including the State Office Building, the Memorial Union, Wisconsin General Hospital, and Camp Randall Stadium.
