Robinson, Robert P. 1884 - 1953 | Wisconsin Historical Society

businessman, soldier, politician, b. Beloit. He graduated from Beloit College (B.A., 1905). From 1905 to 1910 he taught mathematics and coached at Beloit High School, and from 1910 to 1916 taught at Fargo College, Fargo, N.D. During World War I he served in the U.S. army (1917-1919), rising to the rank of lieutenant colonel. Following the war he returned to Beloit, where he was prominent in the advertising business for many years. A Republican, he was elected to the state senate in 1942, and served continuously from 1943 until his death. Robinson was chairman of the senate committee on welfare and education, and in 1948 served as secretary of the Wisconsin Centennial Commission. Wis.
