Schinner, Augustine Francis 1863 - 1937 | Wisconsin Historical Society
Catholic priest, bishop, b. Milwaukee. Ordained in the priesthood in 1886, Schinner served on the faculty of St. Francis Seminary near Milwaukee (1887-1897), was also secretary to the archbishop of Milwaukee (1892-1895), and vicar general of the archdiocese of Milwaukee from 1895 to 1905. In 1905 he was named Bishop of Superior, served in this capacity from 1905 to 1913, and from 1913 to 1925 was Bishop of Spokane, Wash. After serving for a few years as missionary in Bolivia, Schinner returned to Wisconsin in 1928 and spent his remaining years in retirement as chaplain of St. Mary's convent in Milwaukee. J. B.
